Allison: cool selection of items but not much for plus sizes, prices are what you would expect from a curated vintage store rather than a regular thrift store, everything is $70+ but also good quality

It really made all the difference in making me feel comfortable taking my time and looking around. Lo and behold my careful search paid off because I finally found some black wranglers in my size. I’ve been looking for years. They were just slightly longer in the leg than I would have liked and Alexis was kind enough to hem them for me! Really above and beyond service and so much fun and authentic stuff at American Drifter. Prices are fair - if it seems a little pricey then it is worth it because the stuff is in great, clean condition. Thanks y'all!

Isabel Fen: Have brought a few items from here and check in every few weeks. Decent selection, not too pricey. Displays change frequently. Clothes are organized by color and marked S/M/L and decade on tags. They are good about marking "as is" and "not vintage" on the few non-vintage items they have. Skirts have waist measurements but most garments do not have measurements. They have changing rooms. They have few hats/scarves/shoes/purses. They carry a selection of denim and t shirts, but I don't have an eye for that sort of thing.

Tef Co407: Mario the manager , dude manages both stores goes back and fourth well he’s the guy you wanna buy from. Employees next door not holding the same service as him. He’s chill pretty lenient with his prices and his store has a lot of taste, check him out if you’re ever around the area. To the military folks like myself he is military friendly that’s a big plus. Thanks for creating the standard everyone should follow.

Claire H. Nicol: Wow. So many gems! Huge selection. Curated by a pro. And the music while I shopped was one jam after another. I felt like I was in a movie montage in the dressing room. OH! And don’t miss the kids section!
Virginia Stockwell: Quite a selection and variety of sizes. Well curated and reasonably priced. Even on a busy tourist weekend, it's not too crazy busy so easy to browse. Expect to spend at least 30 min! Small men's area, mostly ladies.

This gem isn’t catered to one type of style or decade. They really include it all! Their men’s section is not to be missed! I’ve found some incredible vintage tees here! Run don’t walk! They stock new items daily!

Alexis Slavin: As an all-things-vintage lover, I have visited many vintage stores, from the type where you dig through trash for hours, to the ultra high end / high price tag shops. I have to say, with confidence, that my experience at Prototype has been unparalleled thus far. The selection is wide and spectacular. Each item is intentionally handpicked so you’ll find many unique but wearable pieces for fair prices. For reference, I bought two 60’s psychedelic-print dresses for $75 and $54. I’ve truly never seen anything like them before. You’d spend the same at Urban Outfitters, for instance, but here you’re buying something one of a kind with a story. I had so much fun trying on a ton of items which is rare given my teeny size. When in Austin, this is the place for your vintage hunt! Thank you ladies for the wonderful experience!

Each piece is important, whether it is a vintage Gucci tee or an incredibly ornate Japanese wedding kimono. There is something for everyone - and all of it is quite good! No junk. No overcrowded displays. The store is airy, open, and inviting. I also love how the owner has incorporated new RTW pieces into the shop. It's a great balance of modern and vintage.Masha has a great eye and a true love for what she does... and it is clear when you walk in that care was taken in. curating the collections of amazing garments, jewelry, and accessories. A few of my most loved pieces are from Garment and I will continue to shop here and tell everyone how much I love this place.

Tanushree Srinivasan: I’ve been collecting vintage for years and only stumbled on feathers recently through social media. While I cannot speak to the level of customer service in the store, what I can say is that I have always been treated with respect and care whenever I shop with feathers either through social media or on their website. Emily is often a one woman show and is sourcing, working with the models to do her weekly drops, coordinating with customers who need pics, measurements, etc and who are not able to try on in person. Most vintage stores have a no returns policy so sometimes when online customers have questions to ensure fit etc, employees have to be on their phones. I get it. What I can say is that the prices have always been very fair and the selection has always surprised me. Lanvin jodhpurs ? 1970s Indian cotton? Y2K Tom ford Gucci. She’s got it covered.

Lindsay Hills: This place has the best vintage north, east, south and west of the Rio Grande! I am a long-time vintage collector and I have been to many vintage shows and vintage boutiques throughout years - so I DO know good vintage. Feather's has EXCEPTIONALLY GOOD vintage and unbelievably fair prices! I started shopping here years ago when the store had just opened and since I moved back to Texas more recently I've outfitted over half of my closet with treasures from Feather's! I've found some gorgeous and rare pieces there and I almost always leave with a pair of ridiculously cool jeans. I also personally know the owner and she is SO nice, SO knowledgable, and has KILLER TASTE!! I'm always totally delighted with the staff and I love supporting this amazing small business that makes Austin special!
