Molly Gauspohl: We went to this restaurant as a recommendation. We are so happy we did! The food was Spectacular in the atmosphere divine! We ordered great drinks from the cocktail menu, and started with the pork belly hour devours with the violet mustard. They were phenomenal! My husbands entree, the Peking duck with a celery root puree was so rich and succulent, but my entree was MY favorite; the Halibut! It was seasoned to perfection and absolutely delicious! Jeffrey’s had exceptional staff and a really cool atmosphere. We cannot wait to go back for date night!

From the appetizers to the main course, every bite was a flavorful journey.The atmosphere of the restaurant added to the overall enjoyment of the evening.However, while the service started off strong, I was slightly disappointed when they didn't inform us about the extended wait times for our dishes. After about 30 to 40 minutes between courses, it would have been appreciated to receive a heads-up, allowing us to plan accordingly.In conclusion, Jeffries offers an exceptional culinary experience with its delicious food and inviting ambiance. With a bit more attention to communication regarding wait times, it would undoubtedly be a five-star dining destination.
Allison: We enjoyed our entire experience here from the food to the service provided. My Mishima Reserve NY strip was one of the best steak I've ever had. The sear was amazing. I liked it better than the dry aged 32 days ribeye. The yukon gold puree was very smooth and delicious. I didn't really care for the hors d'oeuvres and appetizer that we ordered.

Steve Saboe: We walked in late and without our service dog. But if we had our service dog, it would have had a vest on. When we were greeted, I sensed an attitude immediately in both the hostess and the bartender, who also came to meet us. It was a good attitude - a charming vibe. It was subtle, but it was real. Then, I can’t believe what happened. There were no available seats at the bar! We were so disappointed. But then, the hostess called over to Josephine House and secured us seats there… and then the conflict occurred. The bartender had concurrently searched for an open table in the bar area and secured us one! We were quite stressed by their attempts to make us happy. But finally we decided to stay, feeling so welcome! And then, the drama of the night, after having read a fresh negative review on this app…. Olivia was there to wait on us! We wondered if we were about to drop a 2-star on this place. But instead, we had an amazing, warm and inviting experience last night led by Olivia and team! Great drinks, snacks and dessert, bettered only by the timely and sharp service. We’ll definitely be back!

dbodai: Spectacular experience at the bar 6pm Saturday night 4/27! Walked in and every seat was taken at the bar, but one of the bar tenders saw that we were struggling to find a spot and immediately jumped into action. He welcomed us and let us know he's working on getting us in. He was able to rearrange a reservation on the fly and get us a couple of seats quickly, which was great because we were in a hurry to eat and make it to a show. The next bar tender then took incredible care of us with amazing drinks and super quick and attentive service. We got our orders in right away and the food came out quickly even though the place was busy. Crab cake was on point as it always is. The entire experience was wonderful, but the bar staff going above and beyond was what really impressed. Cheers to that crew!!!
Travis Chatfield: Went here for dinner after my wedding and they made it a really special occasion for us. Charlie our server was awesome, super friendly and explained everything well. The atmosphere was nice, everything was incredibly clean and well prepped. The food was also incredible, I got the scallops, my newlywed wife got the steak special and for sides we got broccolini, crab fried rice, and lobster cheddar mashed potatoes. Can't even decide what was my favorite, it was all on point. I'm also impressed how good the oysters were for the price.I will 100% be back and I would recommend this place if you have a special occasion coming up.Parking: Valet is 15$, they do take cards and apple pay.

The staff seem to authentically like kids too.

Jeremy Wallace: Love this place. Starts with the gentleman doing the seating. Boyce is awesome. He ALWAYS has bright cheerful smile. He turns my bad day into a GREAT DAY. Today my server was Marquan was a GREAT SERVER. Food was perfect. Marquan was on top of everything tonite. I did not have to ask or wait for anything. Thank you!Vegetarian options: They offér a veggie plate. I have had it in the past and all the items were great tasting and cooked to perfection.
R B: Texas Roadhouse is always consistent on quality and service and this particular location is no exception. I ordered the baby back ribs, mixed vegetables and a sweet potato. All was very tasty and the service was excellent! And I can't end this review without mentioning their famous dinner rolls. OMG! These subtle treasures are simply awesome! I couldn't finish all of my food so I asked the server for a to-go box. He offered to bring out four extra rolls so I could take those home too. Was that not awesome or what? Oh, and of course I accepted. LOL!!

Sabina Dalipova: The food and service were both amazing. Everyone was incredibly friendly and welcoming. It's extremely popular, and it's easy to see why. Here's what I tried:The shrimp corn dogs were exceptional—I could taste the freshness of the shrimp! They were served with a mustard/blueberry sauce that was simply fantastic.The pretzel and pimento cheese were delightful. The pretzels were warm and delicious, and the pimento cheese was wonderfully creamy and savory.The Chicken Fried steak was massive, and the mashed potatoes were both creamy and garlicky—I loved them. The chicken steak itself was delicious, and the gravy sauce on top made it absolutely perfect.

William Adams: Very interesting decor including the unmarked entrance. The dark but open interior is unusual and interesting. I don’t recall dining in a setting quite like it.The food was excellent and I’m a bit surprised by some of the mixed reviews. We had the hamachi crudo, fish tacos and the enmolados de pescado all accompanied by the signature margaritas. Everything was excellent. All the flavors were very unique and felt worth the price.
Viacheslav Tourachev: Great service and atmosphere but food is nothing crazy and falls short of the price tag slapped on it. The frisée salad isn’t actually frisée but romaine lettuce chunk and resembled the American blue cheese wedge salad more than the French frisée aux lardons. Crudo was good, but then again at $25 you get a tiny portion. Main courses were impressive in size but nothing special as far as tastes goes. If you always wanted to try bone marrow but the concept and taste prevent you then this may be the place as the marrow is so seasoned you can’t really taste the marrow. Churro desert was fantastic. Probably won’t be back

We went on a Saturday night so it was fairly busy but Anahi took such good care of us, and was extremely attentive and friendly. Audrey S: I've gotten takeout at Hoover's several times through the years. It's good, authentic southern food -- reminds me of my years in Atlanta, which warms my heart. The staff are always kind and helpful, too. Also, Hoover's engages in philanthrophy throughout the year for various organizations in need. Paul Delacruz: April 2024Hoover's Cooking is all about serving the local community with southern comfort food much of which is locally sourced. I have dined here before a few times in the past and was excited to return. It is located in an area full of new popular eateries, but this place is a landmark. There was plenty of parking and was easy to find. It is all table seating except a few booths.I noticed the staff took their time to seat and serve you. No rushing which made me feel more like being at my parents. It was very calm. I also noticed the "Love Rocks TX." slogan all over with a huge collection of painted rocks to spread love which remind when I myself painted a rock during Covid. There was a charm about this place watching an older man painting away.I ordered the 2PC Fried Chicken Dark with 2 House Mates, Macaroni & Cheese and Green Beans, and Sweet Tea. From looking around this place it displays local Austin history all around including items from the Frisco Shop. Once our heavy plates of food arrived the fried chicken looked very good. The food was very hot. I tried a chicken leg and the crust was crunchy and tasty. The chicken was also very delicious. The mac & cheese was great along with the green beans which had chunks of brisket in it. Overall it was really good where it was not spicy at all and perfect for older folks. Really good fried chicken.Planning to return to try the fried catfish or BBQ chicken.

HOOVERS might be your best place to eat a plate full of memories. And for you that are visiting or are newer to Austin, it is a great place to cultivate your culinary culture. This humble restaurant is one of the best kept secrets on the east side and is an easy trip for anyone near UT campus. Friendly service, fresh home style meals, and save room for pie!

I inquired about some menu items since I was unfamiliar and was graciously provided with some samples. Deb Fink: What an incredible slice of Austin. My friends and I arrived after a redeye flight and had a sumptuous breakfast in a cozy warm eclectic café that was full of personality. There was a line out the door when they opened at 7 AM and we are so glad we discovered it. Will definitely return.Dietary restrictions: They had a nice selection of gluten free items. Delicious corn blueberry pancakes!Kid-friendliness: Many kids eating happily while we were there.
Yogi Young: It is a very out of the box and enjoyable place to eat. The staff was super friendly. There was about a 20-minute wait for a table over lunch. Prices were reasonable and the food was very good. Be careful if you park across the street. Somewhere, there is a parking meter that we were not aware of, and I was hit with a $20 parking ticket. But I would definitely go back!

Cheryl Spencer: I like this restaurant but can only fo once a year. $22 for a steak salad! Also, the wait staff was sleeping the floor near my table. I really don't like that because I imagine dust and particle being swept into the air and into my food. I prefer wait staff to wait to clean when I leave or at empty tables away from mine.Oh and FTI they place can be noisy if busy since floors ate conctete.
