They stressed the connection between leaders and followers when dancing and had us do a number of drills and exercises to get a better feel for it. This was very useful for me, and different from any other dance class I've taken.

Andrew swank: This is a great place to learn the basics of the main types of dance. Instructor Jorge choreographed our first dance as husband and wife at our wedding. He made it fun and straight forward and everyone at our wedding loved it! I recommend the Wedding Package - it gets you 5 private dance lessons and a month of unlimited classes of your choice for a very reasonable price. I've never enjoyed dancing, but this was fun and I would do it again. If you're on the fence about doing it- just do it, you wont regret it!

She teaches 5Rhythms, which is as much a spiritual practice as it is a physical one. The space itself is great, with options to have all the lights on for a more energetic class or dim them for a class like Lisa's. There's plenty of space and a large mirror along the entire length of one wall for classes that need it.

Her wise words. Her patience. Her respect for the body's wisdom. Her pure fun! The room is spacious and very quiet. The floor is fabulous. The sound system Lisa provides is stellar. Parking is so easy. Each class is delicious! I love Lisa- and value her dance guidance and support!

After a quick warmup, the class is typically split into two levels: beginner and intermediate/advanced. Jorge Ortiz teaches the intermediate/advanced level, and he does a great job of keeping things fun and interesting.On Wednesdays I take Argentine tango lessons from Jason Laughlin, and I feel so lucky to have found him. Rather than teaching patterns, Jason focuses on giving his students a true understanding of the dance. He teaches you not only the movements, but also why you make them, and how you can use them to have a conversation with your partner. Taking lessons with Jason has been a fun and intellectually stimulating experience.I've also taken several other classes at Dance International, and I've found them enjoyable as well. With its fun, welcoming, and supportive atmosphere, Dance International is definitely a gem in Austin, and I'm glad I found it.

She even taught us how to work in a loft properly due to our ankle injuries. Our first dance was a success, thank you Emma!

The only reason for not giving this 5 stars is that two classes can easily run $67 and that can add up in time.

His pricing model works best when you bundle because learning takes time. Group classes at its peak was 20-25 people, so you got to rotate between partners and learn from more experienced dancers. I, on the other hand, did not know how to dance and was looking to learn basics of various dances so I wouldn't make a fool of myself at my wedding reception.I signed up for 10 private dance lessons with Tony. From my very first lesson, he has been a great instructor and has made the dances so easy to learn! Tony often lets you record him towards the end of the lesson so you can refer back to while you're reviewing and practicing what you learned that day. Mimi Millard: Esquina Tango is truly one of my favorite things about living in East Austin. Monica and Gustavo have done an incredible job of building not only a beginner-friendly Latin dance studio, but a loving community hub for all ages. I treasure every class and social I attend there! The tango and salsa classes are fun, engaging, and great for building your foundation of skills with nonjudgmental partners.My current favorite class is Afro-Latin Movement with Alfonso Alarcón. It is helping my deepen my technique and body awareness as I advance in my salsa practice. What I find particularly special about this class is how Alfonso supports us in connecting with the deep cultural roots of Afro-Latin and Cuban contemporary dance - whether by telling us stories of Yoruba deities, bringing in amazing live drummers, or bringing traditional skirts to practice in. I feel honored to get to learn the significance and history behind folkloric dances with Alfonso.

Erica Krause: A lot of really fun classes here, and Esquina attracts a great community. It has a very cozy feel in a residential neighborhood with ample parking. The fans and AC work nicely while dancing and moving around. The sound system is great as well. Its a great place to dance! I love Kittie’s Reggaeton, Alfonso Alarcón’s Afro Cuban Movement, and Gustavo’s Tango classes. I haven’t tried Bachata, Salsa, or Cumbia yet, but am excited and have heard great things about Robin Skye.

Kathleen Schmidt: Tried out the tango beginner with Gustavo on Saturday afternoon. He was amazing, nice, encouraging, funny, and made sure you felt comfortable. You don’t need a partner, but the class has a revolving partner structure although you can stick with someone you bring if you want. The studio was very cute and comfortable with plenty of space to leave your belongings. Street parking was free and seemed safe. I really like that your first class is free, and I really want to go back for more classes.

saraqael.: I currently take West Coast Swing, Social Swing, and Lindy Hop classes at GoDance South Austin. Overall, the dance classes & instructors are amazing, as well as the studio & its atmosphere in general. During classes, the instructors are very patient and take time to explain dance steps/moves, as well as to go over previously learned moves for anyone that needs to go over them. The dance classes themselves are also incredibly fun to attend! I love going to GoDance and if I could give 7 stars to this place, I would!

The classes are encouraging, inclusive, as challenging as you want to make them. Staff and instructors are wonderful and, after ClassPassing my way through many of Austin’s dance schools, this feels like home.

Now I am taking pilates with Vlada Sheer, one of my daughter's former teachers, at Ballet Austin, and I can't describe how welcoming the staff have been, and how amazing Vlada is. I am so thankful for Ballet Austin for many reasons!

Cindy Mason: My favorite place to dance in Austin! Beautiful facilities that are well maintained. Excellent teachers with live accompaniment for most Ballet classes. I love that adult dancers are made to feel at home.

Peter Joseph: This is a beautiful place that makes one come alive. The instructors are awesome and the classes are energetic. i feel like a little kid again. There is so much variety in the classes offered that it truly makes one adventurous and a free spirit.

Nihel Ayari: I took a beginning ballet 1 class here and loved it. I am by no means an experienced ballet dancer but I am familiar with some moves. The instructor, Taylor Williams, made me feel at ease and gave me additional support as I was the most inexperienced dancer in the class.

They have such a variety of options, and the instructors are top notch. I also really appreciate the smaller class sizes at Ballet Austin verses the huge ones at the large gym I used to attend. It really feels like a family there, and is place I look forward to going every week.

Dana Malone: I love working out at Ballet Austin! The instructors are the best and the classes are so good! We walk from downtown during our lunch hour and are very disappointed if we have a conflict. Highly recommend you try drop in classes.
