The Elisabet Ney Museum is the historic home and studio of a wildly iconoclastic German sculptor who moved to Austin in 1882. The museum celebrates her art, history, and legacy through exhibitions and events for the whole family.
Visitors can expect to see the world's largest collection of the sculptor's work, spanning from the 1850s to her death in 1907. The museum also houses furnishings and ephemera related to her life and work.
The museum hosts tours, events, festivals, openings, and lectures, with one of the most popular being POLKAPOCALYPSE! Contemporary artists are also exhibited in the building and on the grounds.
School groups can enjoy curriculum-aligned tours ranging from Pre-K to High School, featuring art, history, science, and multi-disciplinary STEAM programming. The museum is also a leader in the Texas Women's Movement and Civil Rights advocacy.
The museum will be undergoing significant site upgrades in 2024-2025. Visitors can stay updated on these improvements by visiting the Capital Improvement Project page on the museum's website.
