Xander Rapstine: I'm truly grateful for the Eastside Music School, but more specifically, for my voice instructor, Karlene.Karlene is a patient and encouraging teacher, while also being goal-focused, gently pushing her students forward while offering right-timed praise and/or feedback. Her understanding of both the physical and psychological needs to improve as a singer is really what makes each lesson a joy, and I always walk away with something new to ponder, which frequently works its way into my singing and my regular life.I feel fortunate to have chosen Eastside Music School to continue my musical education.

I highly recommend East Side Music School and Alyssa for anyone looking for a supportive and enriching musical education!
Karrissa Compton: and it has been easy breezy with Eastside Music School. I was very nervous but already feel so comfortable and have only been taking lessons for about a month! My voice teacher, Karlene, is super knowledgeable and supportive. The staff and other folks taking lessons have also been extremely welcoming and helpful!
Josh Ullman: I've taken lessons in guitar, piano, and vocals and the entire staff is wonderful! Eastside is the first place I recommend to folks that are interested in developing their skills in virtually any age group/skill level. It gets a bit hot upstairs during the summer and it shares walls with a music venue but it's tough to beat the centralized location and access to a wide variety of excellent instructors. Unfortunately I cannot recommend the Studio that's embedded within the school, but I've left a review on that page detailing my troubles.
RYN DEL PAPA: I couldn't be more thrilled that I took a chance on a free voice consult back in March! Learning from Karlene Grinberg and exploring my vocal range's been a fantastic opportunity. I highly, highly recommend Karlene for her depth of knowledge and evident passion for music! An amazing and friendly bunch of instructors and staff at Eastside Music School!
Ibrahim Abouzied: Phenomenal school. You absolutely cannot beat this price-point anywhere else in Austin. I've been taking voice lessons here for four years and my time has been fantastic!

Taylor George: I have been taking piano lessons here for over 6 months now and have achieved a lot of growth and personal satisfaction from the ongoing experience.The teachers and staff are all exceptional. I have worked with 3 different teaches, and the staff is always courteous and going the extra mile to help their students. Their response to Covid and a local building fire has been outstanding in my opinion. They took care of their staff and their students, and continue to do so.I receive compliments from my family on my playing and growth as well. I personally think this is much better than trying to self-teach. You don't know what you are trying to teach yourself...these instructors do.
Helen Merlin: I take voice lessons here with Deanna and having the best learning experience so far. She is very knowledgeable and supportive, both structured and room to explore. She knows her stuff when it comes to music, singing, and teaching.I love that the school offers a free trial for new students, which shows how much they believe in their teachers and offering. Very excited for them to pick back up their monthly open mic nights as well. Highly recommend checking out this school if you are thinking about it.
Randy Jonas: This place is outstanding. The teachers are top notch and the staff there is amazing. I drive all the way up from New Braunfels because the experience and development I get each time are worth it. I highly recommend booking a session. They even validate parking which makes getting there so much less stressful. I cannot recommend them enough.
Chris Silman: I love Eastside Music School. It has a supportive and creative vibe that makes going there so fun. My guitar playing has improved so much since taking lessons with Jamey. He's amazing. Highly recommend.
Noah Masimore: Bryce Bartu creates an open, comfortable space for me to explore my amateur interest in singing.

Meredith Butterfield: Our kids have loved the camps and lessons! The teachers are really kind and come up with creative teaching methods to keep the kids engaged.
Amanda Jester: I am so thankful I found this amazing music school for my son. In the 6 years he's worked with Band-Aid, he's blossomed from a stage fright little boy to a confident and versatile musician who reads music and possesses a wide range of musical knowledge. Band-Aid will prepare your student for the stage and for life. They teach the foundation of music and the important skills of practice, perseverance, working with others, and attending to your mental health. The teachers are all wonderful examples and fun role models who my son idolizes. The bi-annual showcases are my favorite day of the year! I'm always blown away by the student performances and the iconic Austin venues that the students get the opportunity to perform at are amazing.
Karole Fedrick: I am so glad we chose BASM. We started off with private guitar lessons with Josh. He is a treat - patient, kind, great with kids. I wasn't sure about having to do the extra practice session, "dress rehearsal," and stage performance after starting from scratch and only having had two months of lessons, but she's learned a lot already, and the extra events have really helped develop her confidence. The staff I have met seem to be committed to that.Our young musician had a rough morning before the last rehearsal event, was having a hard time getting her emotions in check, did not want to play or sing. She wanted to go back home, but we went inside to listen to the others. She was obviously in distress. James noticed. After the next student had finished performing, he encouraged them all telling them how important it is to perform even if their throat was sore, or if they were nervous or anxious, that it is important to teach their bodies to overcome their emotions. That's a wise word for us all but especially for youngsters. Mine evidently took it to heart, started to participate with student feedback, and she did perform her song after all. She was so happy and proud. It was a growth experience for her for sure, and one I will always treasure.
Mary Crecelius: This is possibly the coolest musical learning experience offered in Austin. My nine year old just blazed through some Rolling Stones while my daughter rocked out on her drums. The teachers are incredibly talented musicians. I cannot recommend this school highly enough. Do not wait, as their studios fill up fast. Your child will blossom as mine have, and they will be so proud of themselves! Good luck holding back your tears. ⚡💓🎸🥁

Courtney Donnell: What an amazing establishment. We had them come out and play for our 10th anniversary party and it made the day. Everyone loved it. The level of talent and the diversity in style and genres was exceptional.
David Ansel: Our daughter has spent several summer sessions in this amazing school. She has had such exciting and positive experiences which have complemented her existing skills and given her confidence to pursue music throughout her life. They do a masterful job of working with a broad range of skill levels.

Nina is still playing a lot of electric and upright bass and Kyle just posted in a music store in Boulder trying to get with a band to play, but it’s hard of course right now. I’m just so happy they have music in their lives and have you to thank as being a “cheerleader “ for them.
Lisa Shields: My daughter, Abby Shields, is thoroughly enjoying her sessions and I am so thankful that she can continue to grow in her music during this crazy time. Its a great place of creativity and respite for her. We've found a great combination of instructors - she takes lessons from both Jeff and Jacqui and she really loves them both.

Casey Seven: as my vocal coach, but switched from her to Band Aid’s founder, James Mays. Band Aid is an exceptional school/program. They work with you to develop your sound, help you with creating your brand as an artist, and gives you the experience of playing live shows. I highly recommend it if you, or a child you may have, is interested in pursuing music. I give it 5 out of 5 stars!
