4worldlovers: TIEC is home to the Texas Intensive English Program, the oldest intensive English school in the state of Texas. The mission of TIEP is to provide exemplary English language instruction, training, and student services. Since 1965, TIEP has helped more than 30,000 students and professionals from 131 countries to achieve their goals by strengthening their English skills and improving their communication skills. TIEP accepts individuals who are 17 years of age or older and does not require a minimum TOEFL or IELTS score for admission. TIEP offers customized, one-to-one English training for non-native speakers of English with our expert instructors, available throughout the year.

Hours outside of our normal business hours and/or off – site (in Austin) – the tuition is an extra $10 per hour.

Students must enroll in a minimum of 1.5 hours of instruction per week for at least 15 total hours.

Sessions available for normal tuition rates from 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Monday – Friday at Texas Intensive English Program heaquarters in Austin’s West Campus district.

TIEP provides customized training programs for sponsoring agencies, governments, educational institutions, private companies, and individuals contracting special programs or private lessons to meet specific training needs and goals.

Our Study Abroad in Austin program offers non-native English speakers the opportunity to pair immersive and intensive English classes with cultural activities and includes tuition, books, housing, and meals in Austin, Texas — one of the top travel destinations in the United States.

4worldlovers: Please note that starting this September, our courses will shift from 8 weeks to 9 weeks. This will allow more time for review and speaking practice. Tuition is $350, which includes 11.25 hours of in-person teaching, extra practice and resources every week, and attendance at one of our Saturday coffee & conversation groups.

We will begin enrolling our September classes in mid-August. In order to sign up for classes, new students should fill out the new student form. We will be in touch to schedule a language assessment and talk about class options.

A note about our classes: Current students have the priority to continue in their current group to the next level (usually the same day & time) before we invite new students to join those groups. If a group is full and everyone decides to continue to the next level, we don't add anyone new into the group. If a student needs to discontinue their classes, we then reach out to the first person on the waiting list to see if they want to join, and so on.

Designed for true beginners who have never studied Spanish or took very limited Spanish in high school or college (0-1 semesters).

-Grammar: Pronunciation, question & sentence structure, subject pronouns, definite & indefinite articles, agreement between article/noun/adjective, regular present tense, and the irregular verbs ser, estar, and haber.

-Vocabulary: Greetings & Farewells, interrogative words, descriptive adjectives, emotions, colors, numbers up to 60, days, months, seasons, and telling time.

Beginning 1 Mini Conversation Course - This is a short course for extra conversation practice this summer before the full courses start up again in September

For students who cannot get into a group conversation class at this time due to schedule conflicts or the class being full, we offer a self-paced online Beginning 1 Spanish course. The course is designed to last at least 8 weeks, but some students may finish it more quickly and others more slowly. The course includes eight lessons with the following materials: A vocabulary list for each lesson, a video for each concept, a worksheet and answer key for each lesson, and extra resources to practice each lesson. Designed for those who have had very limited exposure to Spanish, such as 1 semester in high school or college.

-Grammar: Reviews regular present tense, more in-depth practice with uses of ser, estar, haber, and an introduction to irregular verbs tener & ir.

-Vocabulary: More regular verbs, descriptions, family, locations, adjectives & special tener expressions.

Beginning 2 Mini Conversation Course - This is a short course for extra conversation practice this summer before the full courses start up again in September

Designed for those who have had very limited exposure to Spanish, such as 1-2 semester(s) in high school or college.

-Grammar: More review with present tense (including regular & irregular verbs), irregular yo forms, stem-changing verbs, indirect object pronouns, & more verbs like gustar.
